The Semester-in-Practice (SIP) Practicum is a full-time immersion course offering the support of both an in-house clinic and an off-site externship. 3L and 4L students can pursue full-time practical experience for an entire semester at a private firm, corporation, non-profit, legal services organization or government agency. You can gain credit through either a paid or non-paid credit-based field placement, working directly with an attorney or field supervisor and receiving oversight at FIU Law.
Fall and Spring SIP placements may be in Miami, throughout the United States or even abroad. All placements must be selected and approved by the dean and the senior associate dean of Clinical Education.
Admission to the practicum is by application only. Enrollment is limited to fifteen students, and applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.10.
